The Catatumbo Lightning is an atmospheric phenomenon in Venezuela. It occurs strictly in an area located over the mouth of the Catatumbo River where it empties into Lake Maracaibo. It is more than 5 km of height, appears during 140 to 160 nights a year, 10 hours per day and up to 280 times per hour and it can be seen at the distance of more than 400 km from the place. After appearing continually for centuries, the lightning had not been seen since January 2010, apparently due to a drought, raising fears that it may have been extinguished permanently. In April of 2010, the Catatumbo Lightning reappeared.

Zoozoos are advertisement characters who promote value added services of Vodafone Essar, one of the cellular network operators in India. Though the characters look animated but actually they are humans in costumes. Ogilvy & Mather, an agency who takes care of Vodafone advertisements, is the creator of zoozoo advertisements. The advertisements were filmed at Cape Town, South Africa by Nirvana Films, a Bangalore based company. During the IPL, we started to see zoozoos in Vodafone advertisements and since then these white, cute, egg headed creatures kept us charmed with their activity. For the zoozoo ads Vodafone received Glitterbox Award and obviously no need to mention that right at this moment there are hundred thousands of zoozoo fans which is growing day by day.

Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the STS-132 mission to the International Space Station at 2:20 p.m. EDT on May 14. The third of five shuttle missions planned for 2010, this was the last planned launch for Atlantis. The Russian-built Mini Research Module-1, also known as Rassvet, or "dawn," will be delivered and it will provide additional storage space and a new docking port for Russian Soyuz and Progress spacecraft. The laboratory will be attached to the bottom port of the station's Zarya module. The mission's three spacewalks will focus on storing spare components outside the station, including six batteries, a communications antenna and parts for the Canadian Dextre robotic arm.

All the commercial vehicles, registered before January 31, 1993, were banned according to the order from Calcutta High Court in July 2008 and is applicable for Kolkata and its outskirts.The order was supposed to be implemented by December 31, 2008. But the date of imposing the ban was postponed to July 31, 2009. The State Government decided to implement the Court order from July 25, 2009. No doubt the descision was nothing but a fair one to protect our Kolkata from curbin pollution. But as the earning of a huge number of people and specially the bus woners is affected considerablly, there were always some issue with the descision and the implementation. There were also stricks of Bus and Autorickshaw. Even autorickshaw stricks in few places were indefinite. News media reported violences in some areas also. But still, for our beloved Kolkata, we welcome the ban.

Black Hole is I think the most popular mystery in Space Science. The word "black hole" certainly thrills most of us. What is black hole ? Black Hole is a huge mass centered in a very small volume and definitely with very very high density. Generally dead star is the source of the mass forming black hole. Some scientists say that if a star undergoes "Supernova" state and explodes, the scattered mass collapses all together and starts forming black hole. With the time these mass become so dense that it occupies almost zero volume and infinite density. This state is known as absolute "singularity". Thus the gravitational filed of this cluster becomes so strong that nothing can come out of it. Even the light cannot escape. As we cannot locate this with emitted or reflected light, it seems dark and we mention this as black hole.

In our daily life, whenever we think of any complicated calculation or storing important data, we think of computers. Computers have become close friends to us. Even we cannot think of some services without computers. Such as - Banking, Trading, Reservation etc.

Many years ago in 1800 centuries, there was birth of this divine system. Though there were huge differences in look & feel and as well as in functionality with the modern ones, but still that was the beginning of computer era.

When we are talking about modern computers, we must mention a name - Charles Babbage. He is considered as the "Father of Modern Computer" for his invention of "Difference Engine" and "Analytical Engine". By birth, he was British. He was born in London on 26th December 1791.

OSI Reference Model

Whenever we talk about network or data communication, we frequently mention about the OSI Model. OSI Model is the basic structure of network communication. Though the data communication looks prity simple and straight forward to the end users, but this occures through some indepedent steps. We mention these steps as layers of the Model.

In the year 1977, the International Organization for Standardization came up with the OSI Model. the OSI is the short form of Open Systems Interconnection. The OSI Model consists of the Basic Referance Model and specific protocols.

In the OSI Model there are 7 layers, responsible for totally indepedent but corelated activity for successful data communication. The layers are Application layer, Presentation layer, Session layer, Transport layer, Network layer, Datalink layer, Physical layer. Verious text books and many otehr documentaions shows the order of the layers as mentioned above. But as a suggestion I can request to remenber the layers from the Physical layer i.e. the order will be Physical layer, Datalink layer, Network layer, Transport layer, Session layer, Presentation layer, Application layer. As we go further, you can see that the Physical layer is mentioned as Layer-1, Datalink layer as Layer-2 … and so on. Let’s have a look into the activity of the layers, how they accomplish a successful data communication.

Mysterious sites, regions and structures fill our world, exciting the imagination and leading us to speculate about their origins and purposes. The mysterious lost continent of Atlantis is one such place.

Atlantis was first accounted for by the great Greek thinker Plato, who lived from about 428 to 348 B. C. Plato was a student of the philosopher Socrates who had formed his own school of philosophy in the groves of Academe in Athens. A student of Plato's named Critias insisted that a story of a privileged locale had been passed down to him from his relatives by word of mouth. This information and a few notes written by the Greek statesman Solon, who had heard this story a century and a half earlier from Egyptian priests, brought about the tale of the lost continent of Atlantis.

Since the launch of Ocean in Google Earth, millions of people have started to explore the ocean, and many have been surprised by their discoveries.

Near Hawaii you can see a new volcanic island in the making called the Loihi Seamount.

You can also clearly see the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, an underwater mountain range in the Atlantic Ocean where two tectonic plates are moving away from one another. If you look closely, you can see this ridge connects with others around the globe, forming a nearly continuous mountain range that is over 60,000 kilometers long.

When video and computer games make their ways to handheld platforms, it's hardly a surprise that drastic changes have to be made. More often than not, Game Boy Advance games with a console or computer counterpart bear little or no resemblance to the other versions of the game. But that's starting to change. Games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 for the GBA showed that it's possible to keep the same basic gameplay and level design intact. All it really did was present the same action from a different perspective. And that's precisely what Mobius and Rockstar have done with Max Payne for the GBA. The same basic action and level structure are intact from the original PC version, but it's all seen from an isometric perspective. Unfortunately, this Max Payne serves better as an incredibly neat idea than as a full-fledged game.

Age of Empires II : The Conquerors

Released one year after Microsoft originally published the highly acclaimed real-time strategy sequel Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, the official expansion pack, The Conquerors, faces serious competition. The burgeoning real-time strategy genre has grown and changed since Age of Kings, as several impressive fully 3D tactical combat games have emerged in the past year. It almost seems as if conventional real-time strategy games are already dead - as if they've been ousted by such games as Relic's Homeworld and Massive Entertainment's Ground Control, which de-emphasize resource-gathering and focus on 3D tactical combat. But Age of Empires II: The Conquerors proves once again that the classical formula for real-time strategy games still remains effective if executed properly. It's a suitably excellent expansion to what remains as one of the best real-time strategy games to date.

With both Wanted and Dil Bole Hadippa hitting the big screens this Friday, it seems to be Rani Vs. Salman at the box office. Unfortunately Aditya Chopra's latest offering - directed by Anurag Singh - doesn't quite hit the mark.

Reminding you strongly of Amanda Bynes 2006 Hollywood hit, She's the Man; Dil Bole Hadippa does it's best to combine larger than life entertainment, Yash Raj's tried and tested Punjabi scenery, and cricket.

Shahid Kapoor does a good job as Rohan Singh, cricket captain of a country team in England who reluctantly travels to India to aid his dad's (Anupam Kher) failing team to victory. Our hero is soon bowled over by Veera Kaur (Rani Mukherjee) - a cricket mad aspirant who transforms herself in to a Sardar in the hopes of being able to play under the new captain.

The entry of Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan) is just before the interval. Though Aamir Khan has tried to move away from the masala entertainment that has become a symbol of Bollywood, he has not been able to do away with it completely. The whole concept of Taare Zameen Par is quite good, but the Indian audience has to make an effort to completely understand what it is all about.

Some good music and dance moves along with some nonstop action makes this a fun move to watch. Jeet Ganguly is the music director for movie and he once again proved his mastery with new age music. His songs in another Bengali movie ‘Chirodin Tumi Je Amar’ received a huge response from both Kolkata and Bangladeshi fans. Music tracks from ‘Challenge’ are expected to do the same.

Priyanka’s family has too many expectations from Priyanka and her love affair was a great shock to her family. But the teenage couple takes an drastic decision that completely changes the course of their life.

The film teaches young generation to learn something from our mistakes, as being young we do mistake. The director believes “Chirodini Tumi Je Amar” is a very bold film and could set a new trend in Kolkata Tollywood movies if audience accepts it. We sure expect good performance from the two newcomers in this movie.

There are two types of films – art films and commercial films. commercial cinema has its own attributes, and contains song and dance sequences. In case of art films, the storyline is generally serious and slow. Angshumaner Chhobi doesn’t fall into either of these ategories. It has pace, and music and horeography play a key role in it. It has some layers, but it’s not an intellectual film. It has a simple, straightforward storyline.

It’s about four people who are involved in making a film. Angshuman (Indraneil Sengupta), the protagonist, is the filmmaker. The other characters are veteran actor Pradyut Mukherjee (Soumitra Chatterjee), National Film Award winning actress Madhura (Indrani Halder) and Nil (Tota Roychowdhury). These characters come together during the making of the film, and the story takes a turn from there. At one point, one wonders whether Angshuman would be able to complete the film.

El Dorado - The Myth

The legend of El Dorado was about a fabulously wealthy city of gold and the king who ruled over it. The story sprang up shortly after the first Spanish explorers landed in Central and South America. Local people told tales of a rich king who plastered his body with gold dust and then dived into a sacred lake to wash it off. Afterward, he would toss gold into the lake as an offering to the gods. The Spanish called the king El Dorado—The Gilded One—because his body was gilded, or covered, in gold. As the tale spread, the city he ruled came to be called El Dorado. Eventually, the meaning of the name changed to include any mythical region that contained great riches. An early version of the El Dorado legend placed the city near Lake Guatavita not too far from modern Bogotá, Colombia.

Analytics firm Pinch Media, which spotted the iPhone 3GS roaming online last year, now says it's seen the device string for the new iPod multiple times since April.

At least "a few dozen" different examples have been spotted and have all exhibited a familiar pattern of running about two dozen major, frequently used third-party apps. Few common threads exist other than the apps' popularity, Pinch says. The usage pattern repeats the one seen for the iPhone 3GS and directly suggests that Apple is testing compatibility with the new iPod touch to guard against any show-stopping flaws before the device goes live.
